Best Benefits Of Baking Soda For Skin

We all know of baking soda as the perfect ingredient that’s always found in our kitchen. We use it for cooking, cleaning, and baking, but did we know that it has superb benefits for the skin too? It’s anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, and also an excellent exfoliator that can do wonders on your skin. However, it’s always essential to adulterate it as the direct application of baking soda can get too harsh on your skin.

PS: Baking soda and baking powder are two different ingredients. For effective results, make sure you are using baking soda.

Benefits of baking soda for skin:

  • Adds glow

We are always yearning for healthy, glowing skin – aren’t we? What if we told you that it’s not that difficult to achieve that? Of course, you need to be consistent. You need to drink enough water, get enough sleep, and eat right. But, what else? You could always DIY packs that will make the job easier for you. You can make a glow pack using baking soda and freshly squeezed orange juice. Orange juice is packed with Vitamin C (super beneficial for that glow) while baking soda gently exfoliates the skin.

Start by washing your face. Then, take 1 tbsp of baking soda and 2 tbsps of orange juice. Mix well to make a paste. Apply it on your face, neck, and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash it off with cool water to notice glowing skin.

  • Helps fight acne and pimples

You obviously cannot get acne-free skin by using this face pack alone. While you need to sleep and eat well, you would also require patience. Maintaining skin is a procedure that needs to be followed every day. Owing to the exfoliating properties of baking soda, you can make a face pack by diluting it with water. Not only this pack will help fight acne and pimples, but it will also prevent further breakouts.

Take one tsp of baking soda and some water. Mix them well to make a paste. Apply and let it sit for 2-3 minutes. Wash your face with lukewarm water and pat dry your skin. This face pack could dry out your skin and might open the pores. Use a toner afterward for open pores and apply a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated.

PS: A patch test is a must.

  • To lighten dark neck skin

Not that having dark neck skin is a problem but just in case, it bothers you – there’s a perfect pack that can lighten the skin tone. To make this pack, you’ll have to mix potato juice with baking soda. Both the ingredients have natural bleaching properties that will help lighten the skin tone.

Start by grating a potato. Squeeze out its juice and add 1 tsp of baking soda to it. Mix it and use it on your neck (can be used on knees and elbows too). Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off. Use this solution twice a week and you’ll see visible results.

  • For soft lips

If your lips are chapped, dry, and flaky – you could always use some baking soda. Since it’s a perfect exfoliator, it will remove the dead skin and give you soft lips. Just mix it with some honey to see the magic.

Start by mixing 1 tsp of honey and 1 tsp of baking soda. Rub the paste on your lips in a circular motion and let the mix stay on your lips for 2-3 minutes. Now, gently wash your lips with lukewarm water for soft lips. Always follow up with a lip balm to help seal in the moisture.

  • Ingrown hair removal

That’s quite irritating, right? Well, it won’t be anymore. Ingrowth is usually the hair that grows inside the hair follicle and it cannot be removed through shaving or waxing. While using scrubs can help with it but the infamous baking soda is the perfect solution to remove those bumps.

Start by applying castor oil to the areas where you see ingrowth. Mix 1 tbsp baking soda and a bit of water to make a paste. Apply the paste on the areas and then use the tweezer to pluck out the ingrowth super easily.
