Best Tips For Combination Skin

Not all combos are actually fun especially when it comes to skincare. Combination skin is one such skin type that needs a lot of attention. It’s not really tricky to find out if you have a combination but it is certainly tricky to deal with it since different parts need different care.

If you have a combination skin type, you’ll notice that your T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin) is usually greasy while your cheeks are often dry, flaky, or might feel tight or rough.

Since you are dealing with two different situations at the same time, it becomes imperative to choose the correct products. A moisturizer could work fine for your cheeks but it might not work well for your T-zone. Or your skin might be getting dry and breaking out at the same time (well, yes!).

When you select the products, balance is the key. Start by making a separate routine for dry parts and oily parts – this will help you a long way. When you pick products for the dry parts, look for products rich in humectants (such as glycerin) as these would hydrate the dry patches. While you pick products for oily areas, look for lightweight products that have gel or watery consistency.

We’ve already sorted how you could start, now let’s dig a little deeper:

  • Use a gentle cleanser

Start your day with a gentle, water-soluble cleanser. Look for products that have gel-like consistency and make sure to not overuse it. Use it twice – morning and evening, and always pat dry it. You could even opt for a foaming cleanser that will mattify your T-zone and hydrate the dry patches.

While we suggest this, it is always a good idea to invest in a custom-made cleanser. You will not only get away with all the hustle of selecting one product but the products will be conveniently home delivered. • Never forget to tone

Right after you cleanse, use a toner. Pick a toner that is alcohol-free and nourishes your skin. Toners help maintain skin’s pH levels and it is essential to use them to hydrate and soothe your skin. Simply take a few drops onto your palm and pat all over your face for easy absorption of ingredients.

  • Moisturization is the key

You simply cannot get away with this step. It is super important to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized all day long. Keeping in mind your combination skin, look for oil-free moisturizers. These won’t clog your pores, won’t even make your face greasy, and the texture will help soothe the dry patches.

You could even look for a mattifying lotion for your T-zone and a different cream-based one for your cheeks.

  • Exfoliate!

While this step shouldn’t be a part of your daily routine, you could incorporate this step once a week into it. If you are looking for a face scrub online, look for something suitable for all skin types. Exfoliating will remove dead skin cells from the surface and you’ll feel your skin be smoother to touch (although, don’t touch it often!). You can also always invest in a gentle BHA exfoliator as it will combat oiliness, unclog pores, and will keep your skin healthy.

  • You can always multi-mask

One of the perks of having combination skin is the opportunity to multi-mask (yes, it’s definitely exciting). Multi-masks are set with a targeted approach and will work best on specific areas. For your T-zone always look for an oil-absorbing clay mask and a hydrating mask for your dry patches. You can do this once or twice a week.
