Normal skin is best defined as the skin type that is neither too oily, too dry, not really sensitive, you see less of breakouts or none at all – all of it sounds perfect right? Well, it does but that really doesn’t mean that it does not require care. It needs all the love and needs to be maintained.
Normal skin is a healthy well-balanced skin type that does not have visible pores, has balanced oil production (your skin is a superb eliminator, barrier, regenerator, and absorber), and faces no sensitivity or minimal sensitivity (your skin is smooth and does not react to new skincare products). While all of this sounds so good, it is imperative to keep it healthy and protect it from any damage. Here a few tips that’ll help your skin in the long run:
- Make sure you are hydrated
Hydration is the key when it comes to keeping the skin healthy. If the daily water requirements are not met, your skin may start to dry up and could even lead to excess sebum production. We suggest you drink at least 2L water every day for a boost of hydration and to add that extra glow.
- Cleanse regularly
The best tip to maintain normal skin is to not take it for granted and cleanse regularly. The good thing is that you have the option to choose between gel, cream, or oil cleanser as your skin can do well with anyone. Use a gel-based cleanser if you feel your skin is a little sensitive and you do experience breakouts. A cream cleanser will work best if you have dryness. It will hydrate and soften your skin. While an oil-based cleanser will work when you want those impurities to be lifted away!
However, if you are still confused, it’s always good to invest in a custom-made cleanser. Designed to suit your skin needs and backed by science, we will custom build your formula according to your skin type. Take our FREE skincare analysis to find what works best for you.
- Complete cleansing with a toner
The cleansing process is never complete till the time you don’t apply a toner. Toner keeps your skin healthy by adding a layer of moisturization and hydration. Always look for products that shout ‘hydration’ as those will have ingredients to restore and replenish your skin.
- Always remove makeup before sleeping
While it’s a necessary step for each skin type, it is even more imperative for you. If you sleep with makeup on, it will trigger unnecessary breakouts and will cause damage to your skin. It clogs pores and sleeping in it is definitely not a good idea if you are looking for clear skin. Even if you aren’t wearing any makeup, make sure to wash your face and sleep. Dirt and bacteria that get accumulated after a long day can also clog your pores.
You obviously don’t want a layer of dead skin cells which is why it’s important that you include exfoliation in your weekly routine. Look for a hydrating AHA or BHA exfoliant that will brighten up your skin’s appearance. The exfoliation will also get rid of any excess oil and will remove impurities. The presence of salicylic acid, ascorbic acid, or lactic acid will work like a charm on your skin.
